BREAKING NEWS:

HE-MAN TESTED POSITIVE FOR THE CORONAVIRUS, NOW IN QUARANTINE

It is a sad day in Eternia. Late last night, He-Man made a public announcement to confess that he had tester positive for Covid-19, and will now be quarantined for a few weeks.

It is common knowledge that the most powerful man in the universe get into close combat with his adversaries, and he must have been exposed to the virus during his latest fight with Beast-man or any other of Skeletor's henchmen. It is unknown at this moment if anybody in Snake Mountain has been tested, but we can assume that they will not get tested and probably try to continue spreading it, due to them being evil.

In a surprising turn of events, it was later revealed that Prince Adam of Eternia, the son of King Randor and Queen Marlena, also tested positive for the Coronavirus, which confirms what everyone expected: He-Man and Prince Adam really are close friends. We were told that Orko is working on a cure for Covid-19, but there is timeline was provided to us as to when we can expect it.

ToyFarce News wishes them a speedy recovery, and hopes that everyone stays safe and healthy in those uncertain times. Also, wash your hands.

MARVEL LEGENDS TO ANNOUNCE MOCAP SERIES!

We have found out via an anonymous source that Hasbro has already picked the line-up for their next series of Marvel Legends figures, and it will be focusing on all the Mocap (Motion Capture) version of the MCU characters!

BREAKING NEWS:

MARVEL LEGENDS TO ANNOUNCE MOCAP SERIES!

ToyFarce News has an exclusive scoop for you this week! We have found out via an anonymous source that Hasbro has already picked the line-up for their next series of Marvel Legends figures, and it will be focusing on all the Mocap (Motion Capture) version of the MCU characters

The new Marvel Legends Mocap Series will show you your heroes like you've never seen them before, introducing Iron Man, as portrayed by Robert Downey Jr wearing his Mocap suit. Spider-man will be represented by a figure of Tom Holland in his infamous motion capture gear. Rocket will look exactly like he did when the film was being shot, with Sean Gunn, James Gunn's brother, wearing a bright green spandex outfit. The fan favorite Korg will see Taika Waititi wearing his suit with a cardboard head floating over his own head. Mark Ruffalo will join them, wearing the Hulk outfit that he wore during the shooting of Avengers Endgame, and Mysterio will be a figure of Jake Gyllenhall with the same suit he wore during the movie (not sure why this one made the line-up, it does not make a lot of sense, this will definitely be the peg warmer of the series).

Each figure will include a part for the usual Build-a-Figure bonus figure, which will be none other than the main villain of the Infinity Saga, the mad titan Thanos, with Josh Brolin, as he looked like while shooting the movies.

Already announced for the second series: Don Cheadle as War Machine, and James Spader as Ultron, with the ping pong balls on a stick on top of his head.
No mention of a release date yet, but it should come right after the Marvel Legends Age of Apocalypse series that should come out in May. We will keep you updated when more info is available

HOT TOYS, HOT WHEELS AND HOT POCKETS IN A LEGAL BATTLE OVER COPYRIGHT OF THE WORD 'HOT' !!

It looks like 3 major brands are headed to court over the copyright of a very popular word, or should we say a 'hot word' (pun absolutely intended), which would see the 3 brands fight over the actual word 'Hot'!

BREAKING NEWS:

HOT TOYS, HOT WHEELS AND HOT POCKETS IN A LEGAL BATTLE OVER COPYRIGHT OF THE WORD 'HOT' !!

The ToyFarce News legal team came across an interesting paper this week, while working safely from home to avoid the current global pandemic. It looks like 3 major brands are headed to court over the copyright of a very popular word, or should we say a 'hot word' (pun absolutely intended), which would see the 3 brands fight over the actual word 'Hot'!

Hot Toys, the Hong Kong based high-end figure manufacturer was the first to request a copyright over the word 'Hot', which was then constested by Hot Wheels, the American die-cast toy car brand, introduced by the American toy maker Mattel in 1968. After that, Hot Wheels tried to secure the copyright for themselves, but it was contested again, this time by Hot Pockets, the American giant brand behing the microwaveable sandwiches/turnovers that took the continent by storm with their pastries filled with cheese, meat and vegetables. The 3 brands have been fighting over the term ever since, in order to prove to the world who is more worthy of the word 'Hot'.

If the judge rules that only one of the brand can have the term, it would lead to the other ones having to rename their brands, after years of building a reputation around that name:
-For example, Hot Toys would have to change their name to 'Room-temperature Toys', or even 'Cold Toys', considering the release date being always delayed and very far from the announcements.
-Hot Wheels would have to find a new name as well, 'Small Wheels', 'Mild Wheels'... still does not have the charm and prestige that the name 'Hot Wheels' brought to the table.
-Hot Pocket could have to rename as well if the judge rules that none of them gets to own the term, which would lead to 'Filled pockets' or 'Meat pockets' and would probably see a decrease in their sales as well. Their slogan and melody, as made famous by Jim Gaffigan, would never sound the same... "Filled pockeeeets".

We will keep you updated on the subject as soon as we get more information about it.

ToyFarce News wish all of you to stay healthy, safe, work remotely whenever possible and please, PLEASE, stop buying all the toilet paper. We're soon running out of paper to print those news on!

MORTAL KOMBAT 11 SPAWN FIGURE EARLY REVIEW... BUT IT'S THE WRONG FIGURE

Fans all over the world have been excited to learn that not only Todd McFarlane's creation, Spawn would be joining the roster of the hit video game Mortal Kombat 11

BREAKING NEWS:

MORTAL KOMBAT 11 SPAWN FIGURE EARLY REVIEW... BUT IT'S THE WRONG FIGURE

Fans all over the world have been excited to learn that not only Todd McFarlane's creation, Spawn would be joining the roster of the hit video game Mortal Kombat 11, but also that we would be getting a new Spawn figure from McFarlane Toys! People have already started finding those 'in the wild' in Walmarts and Gamestops, while others ended up seeing their preorders delayed online.

ToyFarce News has managed to secure one of those coveted action figures through one of our most trusted source, in order to give you a full review of it!

First of all, the packaging is very different than what was on the promo pictures. It was supposed to be a Mortal Kombat themed window box packaging with a green background and the figure we received had a black and blue blister with Spawn's face in the background (see picture in lower left corner).

After opening the figure, we noticed that it had way less articulations than what was advertised. It was supposed to be "designed with Ultra Articulation, with up to 22 moving parts for full range of posing", while the figure we received only had the neck, arms, elbows, wrists, legs and knees articulated, so about 11 points of articulations instead of 22. It is a bit of a disappointment.

Also, no cape? That is really strange... The figure seen on all the promo pics had a cape. That is another disappointment. So far, we are not very impressed with this Spawn offering from McFarlane Toys... Then, we were surprised to see that the figure came with so much accessories, which were not advertised! A gun, a grenade launcher, and not one, but two bandoliers full of bullets. They can be worn by the figure.

After further inspection, it seems that the figure has a date of 1997 written on it. It is pretty crazy to imagine that McFarlane Toys had already planned to make a figure for the Mortal Kombat 11 game more than 11 years before it came out! Such clairvoyance is clearly what makes McFarlane Toys such a great brand!

Overall it is a nice figure, the details and the paint app are great, and it is always a pleasure to get a new Spawn figure, especially after all this time. It is a bit of a let-down compared to the promo pictures, though. We had been waiting for so long to get a Spawn with today's level of articulations, and, even if there is way less articulation than advertised, it still could have been a bit better.

EDITORIAL NOTE: it seems that ToyFarce News has been scammed and was given a Spawn figure from the 1997 Spawn movie figure line, instead of the new Mortal Kombat 11 one. We are currently waiting for an answer from our provider. To be fair, it's an honest mistake...

NECA ANNOUNCES INVISIBLE MAN LOOT CRATE !!

In 2019, the sensational action figure brand NECA (which stands for National Entertainment Collectibles Association) aquired LootCrate, one of the most famous subscription box brand which had filed for bankruptcy earlier that year.

BREAKING NEWS:

NECA ANNOUNCES INVISIBLE MAN LOOT CRATE !!

In 2019, the sensational action figure brand NECA (which stands for National Entertainment Collectibles Association) aquired LootCrate, one of the most famous subscription box brand which had filed for bankruptcy earlier that year

Since then, NECA has been using the LootCrate format to distribute exclusive figures, such as the recently released 'Spirit of Splinter', available only in the TMNT Movie 30th anniversary crate (the one that scalpers are selling for 100$). The crate also offered a t-shirt, some badges and other (useless) items that will end up clogging a drawer as soon as the crate has been received. This week, it was announced that 3 additional TMNT crates would be available, each containing an exclusive figure. A Bonus figure will be also available for those who buy all 3 crates.

ToyFarce News got the insider scoop that NECA is about to use the same format with their horror movie figures, starting with the highly popular horror film 'The Invisible Man', with Elizabeth Moss. They will release the attached promo pic very soon, along with more info on how to order it.

The other crates should have a Freddy from Nightmare on Elm's Street's ...remake movie (the one NOT played by Robert Englund), and yet another Jason Vohrees from the Friday 13th movie franchise. The bonus figure should be a Pennywise figure, the clown from It, dressed as a bunny, to mirror the TMNT '3-crates + Bonus item' offer, which offers a Bebop dressed as a bunny.

HOT TOYS TO RELEASE MORE 'BATTLE DAMAGED VERSION' FIGURES ??

Over the years, lot of toy brands have made 'Battle damaged version' of their popular figures.

BREAKING NEWS:

HOT TOYS TO RELEASE MORE 'BATTLE DAMAGED VERSION' FIGURES ??

Over the years, lot of toy brands have made 'Battle damaged version' of their popular figures. Toy Biz used to do battle damaged version of their X-Men and Spider-man figures in the 90's. Bandai has battle damaged Dragon Ball Z  figures, Kenner had battle damaged Star Wars and Jurassic Park figures, with those weird soft plastic dinosaurs that had a tiny piece of flesh that could be removed on their back leg, and it was enough to call them 'battle damage' (we are not even kidding).

In recent years, Hot Toys has released 'Battle Damaged Version' of their Terminator T-800 figure, Robocop, the Armored Batman from Batman V Superman, and announced the Endgame Iron Man Mk. LXXXV and Thanos would be the latest to don the 'Battle Damaged Version' outfit. But those will not be the last ones!

ToyFarce News got an inside scoop from a factory worker that stayed home way too long because of the virus outbreak, and decided to spill the beans on some of the upcoming figures, out of frustration! The next figures to be announced should be 'Battle Damaged Version Winnie the Pooh', from the 'Christopher Robin' movie, and 'Battle Damaged Version Belle' from the smash hit 'Beauty and the Beast'.

Other rumors are 'Battle Damaged Tonto' from the movie 'Lone Ranger', 'Battle Damaged Sweeney Todd' or a re-re-release of Iron Man Mk. XLVII with a Battle Damaged Version twist.

Hot Toys has decided to give everybody, and especially all the ladies, a perfect gift for International Women’s day !

BREAKING NEWS:

HOT TOYS TO ANNOUNCE LONG-AWAITED FAN FAVORITE 'ROSE TICO' FIGURE FOR INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY!!

First of all, ToyFarce News would like to wish all the female toy collectors and readers of ToyFarce News a happy International Women's Day! Hot Toys has decided to give everybody, and especially all the ladies, a perfect gift for this day by announcing a one sixth scale figure that has been the most anticipated character for so many fans: the fan-favorite Rose Tico from Rian Johnson's 'Star Wars - The Last Jedi'!

Rose comes with 3 different outfits, her normal orange outfit which she wears in the Last Jedi, her First order disguise which she used in the movie after being caught on Canto Bight (a place that fans have quickly become enamored with as well!), and her outfit from that one scene in 'The Rise of Skywalker', when we see her in the background, or something. An anonymous source told ToyFarce News that "Well, it's not Gamora, but people should be really happy with that announcement. They will see that Hot Toys listens to them and gives them exactly what they want, when it's not Iron Man variants, re-releases and improbable release dates.". The figure is scheduled to be released on Q4 2028.

The preorders sales will start very soon, so do not miss out on the opportunity to own that figure, so that everyone else will be definitely jealous of you! And for all the readers of ToyFarce News, when you order, enter the code 'ToyFarce' to get a bonus second necklace part from her dead sister from earlier in the movie!

AFTER THE SUCCESS OF THE TARGET EXCLUSIVE RED HULK, MARVEL LEGENDS TO RELEASE MORE COLORED HULKS !!

Be ready to see all the shades of a rainbow of Hulk on your feed very soon!

BREAKING NEWS:

AFTER THE SUCCESS OF THE TARGET EXCLUSIVE RED HULK, MARVEL LEGENDS TO RELEASE MORE COLORED HULKS !!

The Target exclusive 'Marvel Legends Red Hulk' was released only a few weeks ago and collectors worldwide have been on the hunt to get their hands on one. The figure has quickly become what some collectors call a 'Grail piece', even if the term is usually used to mention mainstream figures that are easy to find if you spend 3 minutes on eBay.

But this is not the end of the story for that Hulk figure! Hasbro has decided to go even deeper and release another set of variant colored Hulks, which would be available exclusively in different stores, so that the collectors can feel the thrill of the hunt even more, and send collectors on a long and perillous journey!

The 'Marvel Legends Dark Blue Hulk' will be a Walmart exclusive, while the 'Marvel Legends Yellow Hulk' will be only sold in Hallmark stores. The 'Marvel Legends Orange Hulk' will be an exclusivity for Toys'R'Us Canada. The 'Marvel Legends Teal Hulk' will be only available in PicWic Toys stores in France (formerly Toys'R'Us stores). The 'Marvel Legends Pink Hulk' will be only available at Hamleys toy stores in the UK. And finally, the 'Marvel Legends White Hulk' will be the rarest of them all, as you will have to contact a person from Hasbro through an email address and beg them to sell you one, and they even have the right to refuse! The supplies will be very limited, so do not waste time and get yours fast!

An insider source has told ToyFarce News that there is even a secret color that will be hidden until someone finds it 'in the wild'. Rumors are that it could be a shade of cerulean, coral pink, or fuschia!
If the experiment goes well, Hasbro plans to go same way Hot Toys did with the Iron Man Neon Tech figures, and release more colors later, and also possibly chrome versions of each of those colors.

Be ready to see all the shades of a rainbow of Hulk on your feed very soon!

HELL HAS FROZEN OVER: DC DIRECT BUYS MARVEL LEGENDS SERIES ?!

It has been a crazy week for all the comic book fans!

BREAKING NEWS:

HELL HAS FROZEN OVER:
DC DIRECT BUYS MARVEL LEGENDS SERIES ?!

It has been a crazy week for all the comic book fans. First, Dan Didio, co-publisher of DC Comics was removed from his place by Warner Bros/DC Comics. A few days later, the CEO of Disney (who owns Marvel), Bob Iger stepped down from his position. It didn't take long before rumors started to spread that Warner would try to sell DC Comics, and that Disney and Marvel might take over DC! There is even words about an eventual merging of the Big 2! Imagine Batman and Spider-Man sharing a same multiverse!

But in a plot twist that nobody saw coming, it seems that the legendary line of action figures from Hasbro, the Marvel Legends Series has been bought by DC Direct (formerly known as DC Collectibles)!

DC Direct plans to rename the line 'Marvel Essentials' to go with their 'DC Essentials' line, and plans to sell them without any accessories or extra hands, just like their DC figures. "They are called Essentials, so that is what you really get: barely the essentials to be called an action figure." said a long time DC Direct/Collectibles employee.

Additionally, they might eventually give a try to the Build-a-Figure model with their DC Essentials line, which has always been a ploy to sell people characters that nobody wants if it wasn't for that 'left leg part' from a character that people actually want. Be ready to have more extra heads, legs and torsos to throw in a drawer!

We, at ToyFarce News, sincerely hope that this rumor about a merging is true and hope that DC and Marvel will continue telling stories in comic book form until the end of times (so, in about 7-8 years.)

MORE TOY COMPANIES TO USE CROWDFUNDING AFTER MCFARLANE TOYS SPAWN KICKSTARTER ANNOUNCEMENT ?!

This idea hasn't fallen on deaf ears, as we got the scoop that other toy makers will soon start their own crowdfunding venture.

BREAKING NEWS:

MORE TOY COMPANIES TO USE CROWDFUNDING AFTER MCFARLANE TOYS SPAWN KICKSTARTER ANNOUNCEMENT ?!

The New York Toy Fair is still ongoing and there has been a lot of exciting announcements during the weekend! It seems tons of brands are cashing in on one particular thing this year: Nostalgia! With several brands bringing back the 3¾-inch figures from the past, others bringing us figures like the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in packaging that looks like the ones from the past, or Power Rangers from the 90's, all those brands are trying to touch our nostalgic nerve and get us to buy reproductions of figures we already had 30 years ago.

But one particular announcement certainly did not go unnoticed: Todd McFarlane, the "ToddFather" himself, announced his project of a Kickstarter for a revival of the very first wave of Spawn figures from 1995. The goal is to start a Kickstarter for each figure from the set (Spawn, the Clown, Violator, Overkill, Tremor, Medieval Spawn, and an unmasked version of the Spawn, with trademarked 'hamburger-head'), and release them, with today's better, upgraded scuplts, while selling them in the same packaging the original figures had in 1995.

This idea hasn't fallen on deaf ears, as we got the scoop that other toy makers will soon start their own crowdfunding venture. "Todd McFarlane created a multi million dollar business and made a name for himself, through his art, comic book stories and McFarlane Toys, and he is now trying to relaunch Spawn using Kickstarter? This is genius!" said one of the top Toy company representants interviewed at the Toy Fair.

The early rumors ToyFarce News has managed to gather are:

  • Howard Chan, from Hot Toys, thinks about starting a GoFundMe to help his multi million dollar brand release figures a bit faster than at current time.
  • The toy makers of Hasbro will soon start a Patreon, where they will release pictures of the design, sculpting, prototype, all the processes to make a figure with different levels of payments showing you more if you pay more.
  • IndieGogo has had conversations with the people from Funko, no details about the subject.
  • Mattel to restart their 'MattyCollector' service as a paid subscription, with different tiers.
