BREAKING NEWS:
MORTAL KOMBAT 11 SPAWN FIGURE EARLY REVIEW... BUT IT'S THE WRONG FIGURE
Fans all over the world have been excited to learn that not only Todd McFarlane's creation, Spawn would be joining the roster of the hit video game Mortal Kombat 11, but also that we would be getting a new Spawn figure from McFarlane Toys! People have already started finding those 'in the wild' in Walmarts and Gamestops, while others ended up seeing their preorders delayed online.
ToyFarce
News has managed to secure one of those coveted action figures through
one of our most trusted source, in order to give you a full review of
it!
First
of all, the packaging is very different than what was on the promo
pictures. It was supposed to be a Mortal Kombat themed window box
packaging with a green background and the figure we received had a black
and blue blister with Spawn's face in the background (see picture in
lower left corner).
After
opening the figure, we noticed that it had way less articulations than
what was advertised. It was supposed to be "designed with Ultra
Articulation, with up to 22 moving parts for full range of posing",
while the figure we received only had the neck, arms, elbows, wrists,
legs and knees articulated, so about 11 points of articulations instead
of 22. It is a bit of a disappointment.
Also, no cape? That is really strange... The figure seen on all the promo pics had a cape. That is another disappointment. So far, we are not very impressed with this Spawn offering from McFarlane Toys... Then, we were surprised to see that the figure came with so much accessories, which were not advertised! A gun, a grenade launcher, and not one, but two bandoliers full of bullets. They can be worn by the figure.
After
further inspection, it seems that the figure has a date of 1997 written
on it. It is pretty crazy to imagine that McFarlane Toys had already
planned to make a figure for the Mortal Kombat 11 game more than 11
years before it came out! Such clairvoyance is clearly what makes
McFarlane Toys such a great brand!
Overall it is a nice figure, the details and the paint app are great, and it is always a pleasure to get a new Spawn figure, especially after all this time. It is a bit of a let-down compared to the promo pictures, though. We had been waiting for so long to get a Spawn with today's level of articulations, and, even if there is way less articulation than advertised, it still could have been a bit better.
EDITORIAL
NOTE: it seems that ToyFarce News has been scammed and was given a
Spawn figure from the 1997 Spawn movie figure line, instead of the new
Mortal Kombat 11 one. We are currently waiting for an answer from our
provider. To be fair, it's an honest mistake...
