BREAKING NEWS:
DC/WARNER REMOVE GUNS FROM ALL UPCOMING PRODUCTS… TOYS PROTEST!!
It all started a few weeks ago, when Mezco posted some promotional pictures from their upcoming ‘Constantine’ figure. Some fans noticed that no pictures were showing John Constantine holding a gun, rifle, or his signature cigarette… Mezco replied with a tweet saying that they were requested to omit the items from their current marketing photos…
There were also promo pictures from Prime 1 Studio’s Grim Knight statue, that were all missing the weapons, even though the Grim Knight is basically the Batman version of the Punisher (in his universe, he grabbed the gun from his parents’ killer and shot him dead on the spot, leading to him becoming a vigilante that relies heavily on lethal weapons).
Then, earlier this week, the collectors who have ordered the “Batman Hush: Joker” or the “Dark Knight Returns: Armored Batman”, both from MAFEX received an emails mentioning that the guns will not be included with the figure anymore…
It was mentioned last year that Warner Bros had decided to remove guns from their shows, including the upcoming Looney Tunes reboot show, in response to the US gun violence. Characters like Elmer Fudd or Yosemite Sam will not be able to have guns or rifles in the new shows, but it was not expected at any point that the regulation would also find its way in DC Comics and all the toys as well (especially after McFarlane Toys just released a Grim Knight, Flashpoint Batman and Red Hood figures, all dual-wielding guns and weapons of all sorts).
ToyFarce heard that the action figures were not happy about this new rule and have decided to protest, as a sign of cooperation for their soon-to-be-released friends. They want their right to bear arms to be respected. “We Want Guns!” signs were seen in the crowd, and ToyFarce tried to get a few words from some of the members of the protest…
What does that mean for future DC Multiverse figures from McFarlane Toys, for example? Will the Unmasked Flashpoint Batman come empty handed? Only time will tell…
We will keep you informed of any significant developments.
