FIGMA SILENT HILL 2 RED PYRAMID THING AND BUBBLE HEAD NURSE (RE-ISSUE)
It’s Wednesday, you know what that means… ToyFarce reviews!
This week, we’re taking a look at the re-releases of the Silent Hill 2 figures from Figma, namely, the Red Pyramid Thing (or Pyramid Head, for his friends), and the Bubble Head Nurse, which were originally released in 2015. The game celebrated its 20th anniversary last month (Damn, I am old), and is one of my favorite games of the genre. I played that game through and through, got all of the endings (the ‘Dog’ one being the best one), and have been listening to the soundtrack for apparently 2 decades. Talking about the soundtrack, here’s a song for while you’re browsing the pictures!
First off, Red Pyramid Thing (or Pyramid Head, for his friends), comes with his Great Knife, a spear, an extra neck piece for the spear, extra hands and the usual articulated stand and bag for the accessories. The bag for accessories is a genius part for Figma figures, and more companies should do that.
The Bubble Head Nurse, which were just as scary as Pyramid Head in the game, are also greatly represented by Figma. Figma is used to make anime female characters, so that figure has a great sculpt and articulation. It’s a horribly disfigured zombie-like nurse, which, of course, has a cleavage, because Japan. 3 different heads, extra hands, a knife and steel pipe, along with the articulated stand and plastic bag for the accessories.
Before finishing this review, I actually had a bootleg version of the Red Pyramid Thing, which cost me about $13 a few years ago, and is HORRIBLE. Flimsy plastic, the parts fall off, it barely stands up on its own, as bootlegs usually do. If you breathe too close to it, it will fall apart. I can now get rid of it!

BREAKING NEWS:
NECA ANNOUNCES MORE UNIVERSAL MONSTERS FIGURES, BUT FROM THE WRONG UNIVERSE…
It’s October, and NECA has been doing their Monster Madness, with “31 Nights of Fright”, revealing something new everyday for the whole month of october. When we’re lucky, it’s a new figure revealed, but when we’re not, they’ll just reveal the packaging of something announced months ago (Still a reveal! STILL COUNTS!). Between packaging reveals, brand new figures have been announced, such as a beautiful Elvira figure, more Gargoyles, a Gremlins accessory pack (Accessory packs, SO HOT RIGHT NOW!) and a new Ash figure from the original Evil Dead movie.
Before that, NECA had been killing it with the announcements of Universal Studio Monsters figures from the classic films. The Frankenstein monster figure, colored and black/white versions, have been out for a while, with the Wolfman and the Mummy to follow soon. More teases have been made, and we cannot wait to see a classic Dracula, Swamp Thing,… and all the others to be revealed.
UNFORTUNATELY… on their latest reveal, NECA announced that they will continue making those Universal Monsters figure that everyone likes, but from their modern adaptation… the now-defunct Dark Universe!
Indeed, the Dark Universe was supposed to be the modern adaptation of all the classic Universal Monster movies. “The Mummy” movie came out, and… that’s pretty much all it did. It came out. No one went to see it. “The Invisible Man”, with Elizabeth Moss was pretty good actually, and supposedly part of that ‘multiverse’. Depending on who you ask, “Dracula Untold” is either part of that Dark Universe or not. It’s a mess… and it inevitably failed.
Pictured below: The Dark Universe promo photo, where Russel Crowe would play Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde, Javier Bardem as the Frankenstein monster, Tom Cruise as Sgt.Morton in “The Mummy”, Johnny Depp as the Invisible Man, and Sofia Boutella as the Mummy.
ToyFarce wishes that it was just a mistake and that a better reveal will be available today. I mean, at this point, even a packaging reveal would cheer us, right?

REVIEW: FUNKO POP JUNJI ITO COLLECTION
This week, we’re looking at the Junji Ito Collection Pop figures from Funko.
TOYFARCE REVIEWS:
FUNKO POP JUNJI ITO COLLECTION!
It’s Wednesday, you know what that means… ToyFarce reviews!
This week, we’re looking at the Junji Ito Collection Pop figures from Funko. I know, I know, Funko Pops are the devil and should not ever be brought up. On the other hand, this is the only easily available Junji Ito merch (apart from a few expensive designer toys) , and I was not gonna skip on those! Who’s Junji Ito, you ask? Only one of the greatest masters of horror manga! I discovered Junji Ito through a friend (thanks, Hugo!) who told me to read Uzumaki over a decade ago. My mind was blown and I needed to get my hands on everything that this man had written (even the cute story about his cats!). Here’s a sample…
During Comic Con 2020, a single Funko Pop figure from Junji Ito was announced, Souichi Tsujii, along with his voodoo doll and candles on his head. I got it right away, as there is not really any other merch available, and he would look nice on the shelf next to the books. Then, later, Funko announced a whole wave of other characters: Tomie, Yuuko, the model Miss Fuchi and another Souichi figure. And here they are!
Crunchyroll is developping a Uzumaki animated series which should come out in 2022. Hopefully, that means more toys!

NECA’S DOUG JONES COLLECTION!
It’s Wednesday, you know what that means… ToyFarce reviews!
This week, we are taking a look at some of the NECA figures from the Guillermo Del Toro movies, which we will dub ‘The Doug Jones Collection’, since Doug played most of those characters. But first, an introduction from Doug Jones himself!
ToyFarce note: I made a complete fool of myself when I wrote ‘Matilda’ instead of ‘Ofelia’ in the request, since I wanted to joke that he also played her. This is why you always double check before you send something, folks. Let it be a lesson for all of us. And many thanks to Doug Jones for delivering this!
Doug Jones is the actor extraordinaire that played all sorts of monsters and creatures in all your favorite movies and TV shows. From the Gentlemen in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Abe Sapiens in the Hellboy movies, all sorts of monsters in Guillermo Del Toro’s movies, the Silver Surfer in the Fantastic four movie, and many more. These days, he can be found as Lt. Saru in Star Trek: Discovery. The fact that he can act so well without showing his face is a testament to his talent. I personally love the way he moves his hands, and can sometimes recognize him just from the way his hands ‘act’. And now, the figures!
THE AMPHIBIAN MAN from THE SHAPE OF WATER
A great figure from NECA. The ‘yellow’ skin parts are a bit transparent, and the figure has some shine on it, to make it look like it’s wet. It comes with a base with chains and cuffs, a different ‘screaming’ head and some eggs (the Amphibian man’s favorite snacks!). The movie was a masterpiece (as is tradition with Guillermo Del Toro), and the figure does it justice. Doug Jones did an amazing job in that one too, even if naysayers will say that it’s basically just a silent Abe Sapiend from Hellboy. The articulations are a bit meh, but nothing unusual for NECA. It’s not like the character was a professional gymnast in the movie anyway…
Here’s a great review of the movie:
THE FAUN from PAN’S LABYRINTH
Another amazing movie from Guillermo Del Toro, Pan’s Labyrinth came out in 2006 (What?!). The 3 following figures are from that movie. A newer version of the Faun came out recently, with his ‘older’ look from the beginning of the movie (in the movie, he seems to age backwards and become younger every time we see him). Doug Jones played multiple characters in the movie, all of them being, as usual, creatures with tons of make-up and prosthetics. The figure comes with 2 bags, and is an amazing piece of plastic.
OFELIA (NOT MATILDA) from PAN’S LABYRINTH
Like mentioned at the beginning of the review, I wrote ‘Matilda’ instead of ‘Ofelia’ in the request for an introduction to Doug Jones, so I will keep calling her ‘Ofelia (not Matilda)’. This is the cross I have to bear. Another great figure from Pan’s Labyrinth. She comes with a pillar, her fairy tale book, the key that she gets from the giant toad, and 3 little fairies.
THE PALE MAN from PAN’S LABYRINTH
The Pale Man, another character coming right out of the mind of Guillermo Del Toro. The figure looks great. Maybe too great, considering we can see all the details of his loose skin hanging and all… You should not open that figure before eating! The Pale Man comes with his massive chair, and a plate of eyes.
Also, someone posted that, which cannot be unseen…
The Guillermo Del Toro figure collection from NECA (or Doug Jones collection) is a great way to celebrate the movies. They just look amazing, packed with details, and will look great on any movie figure shelf in your collection.
ToyFarce would like to once again thank Doug Jones (and Cameo) for the great introduction!

ALIEN DAY REVIEW: NECA’S ALIEN ULTIMATE “BIG CHAP” + SDCC EXCLUSIVE GLOW-IN-THE-DARK VERSION
Today is April, 26th, which means it’s Alien Day!
ALIEN DAY REVIEW:
NECA’S ALIEN ULTIMATE “BIG CHAP” + SDCC EXCLUSIVE GLOW-IN-THE-DARK VERSION!
Today is April, 26th, which means it’s Alien Day. Alien Day is celebrated by fans worldwide every year on April, 26th (4/26), which refers to LV-426, one of the three moons orbiting Calpamos in the Zeta Reticuli system, the same moon on which the UNSCC Nostromo landed in 2122 (or 1979, for us). Every year, a ton of new merch is announced for Alien Day: new action figures, books, t-shirts,... for all fans of Xenomorphs (or Weyland-Yutani) around the world.
And for that occasion, I picked the NECA Alien Ultimate “Big Chap” and its SDCC Glow-in-the-dark counterpart from my (depression) pile and finally opened them. Here are the pics!
(That nearly went weird…)

REVIEW: NECA’S TOONY TERRORS, SERIES 4!
This week, we’re looking at the 4th wave of Toony Terrors from NECA!
TOYFARCE REVIEWS:
NECA’S TOONY TERRORS SERIES 4!
It's Wednesday. You know what that means… ToyFarce reviews!
This week, we’re looking at the 4th wave of Toony Terrors from NECA! It took me a while to get into those, but after I saw the first wave at my local Gamestop (RIP Gamestop, which are all gone in Northern Europe), I knew I had to pick them at some point. When series 4 was announced, I was super happy with the line-up.
Regan from the Exorcist, Beetlejuice from… Beetlejuice, Sam, the mascot from Trick ‘r treat, and Victor Crowley from Hatchet! Yes, please! Let’s dive into those individually
First off, the star of “The Exorcist”, Regan! Regan comes with an alternate head and her signature pea-soup-green vomit (Aaaaw, so cute!). The figure doesn’t have a lot of articulation (neck, arms and feet), but you don’t really get Toony Terrors figures for their articulations, now, do you? The cartoony likeness is great. To quote the Murderdolls, “Regan, it was love at first fright!”.
Beetlejuice (that’s it, we said it 3 times now!), from the classic Tim Burton movie of the same name, does not come with any accessories, has an awkward pose and can’t really do much…but it’s Beetlejuice, so he will just look awesome on a shelf. Sometimes, less is more?
Sam, the mascot from the cult classic horror anthology “Trick’r Treat” comes with an extra head, a lollypop and his bag of goodies (which might be human parts). The figure doesn’t need much to look great, and already looked cartoony to begin with, so it’s a win win for that one.
Victor Crowley, from the ‘Hatchet’ movies comes with…a hatchet! (SO META!). A perfect cartoony depiction of the monster from the movies, his head, arms and right hand can move, which is enough. Kane Hodder, who played Jason in 4 of the ‘Friday the 13th’ movies, played Victor Crowley in all 4 ‘Hatchet’ movies.
That is a wrap for NECA’s Toony Terrors series 4!
Here are the links for the first 3 waves, in case you are interested:

https://www.toyfarce.com/news/review-neca-toony-terrors-series-3-chucky-and-bride
The 5th wave included 2 repaints (Mike Myers from the latest Halloween movies, and a bloody Ash Williams from Evil Dead), along with the Creep from Creepshow and Ghostface from Scream. I might only pick the 2 new figures and skip the repaints, because I don’t have much space left on the shelf, and shelf real estate is a very expensive business these days (See previous post!).
Do you like the Toony Terrors figures? Are you planning to get them? Let us know in the comments!

FRIENDS WITH KIDS CAN’T UNDERSTAND WHY THEIR CHILDREN CAN’T PLAY WITH YOUR TOYS WHEN THEY VISIT!

BREAKING NEWS:
FRIENDS WITH KIDS CAN’T UNDERSTAND WHY THEIR CHILDREN CAN’T PLAY WITH YOUR TOYS WHEN THEY VISIT!
This scenario has happened to all of us collectors at least once: Friends or family come to visit, they bring along small children, “Can my child play with some of your toys?”, chaos ensues.
We all have some nightmare stories like that, so please do share yours in the comments! We’ll start:
A few years ago, a couple of friends we hadn’t seen for a long time came to visit, and they brought along their child (aged 3). Upon arrival, the husband saw the toy collection and asked “Oh, nice! Can my kid borrow a few toys to play with?” to which I quickly reply “No, those are not for playing” and explained politely that they were collectibles, some of them were actually quite pricey, and that is why they are in glass cabinets, and not just lying on the floor. (Also, I didn’t realize I was the one supposed to provide entertainment for his kids when they visit…). I asked if they wanted that we put some cartoon on Netflix for the kid, and he replied “No, he does not watch TV”. Great.
As the conversation went on, I kept an eye on the 3 year old, which was looking at the toys in the Detolfs, and even went to discuss with him about what he liked, and if he knew some of the characters (Apparently, 3 year old kids are not into the Walking Dead, Metal Gear Solid or Stranger Things. Weird, right? He did like Batman and Star Wars, though). The kid was absolutely fine with just looking and seemed to enjoy it. His father, though, kept asking “How about this toy? Is it expensive? Can he have it?” pointing at the Hot Toys 1989 Batmobile. “It’s big, he’s not gonna break it”. Yeaaah, nah. He kept asking every few minutes about other toys, and didn’t seem to grasp the general atmosphere (even his wife was a bit annoyed by then).
“Can I take a photo of the kid with this on?” pointing at the Marvel Legends Iron Man helmet. At this point, we all looked at each other, realizing that he would not stop until we gave him at least something, and agreed to take the pic if he would stop to ask after that. Here it is:
The child didn’t even want it, and barely moved as his dad was placing the helmet on his head. Needless to say, they haven’t visited a lot since, and we would always meet at THEIR place after that. It was weird because it wasn’t the child himself that made the situation uncomfortable, but the parent.
(And before anyone thinks that ToyFarce is anti-children, this is not the case at all. There are plenty of well behaved children (and parents!) that have visited over the years without a single issue. Children of collectors also usually understand very well that there is a difference between kids toys, and “mummy or daddy’s toys”. We’re only talking about the situations where things went south!)
Let us know your stories in the comments! This should be good, I’ll bring the popcorn!

TOYFARCE DENIES ALL ACCUSATIONS: “WE HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH IT, THE NECA BRITNEY SPEARS DOLL IS A REAL THING!”
ToyFarce would like to make an official statement about it: We had nothing to do with this!
ToyFarce has received countless emails, messages and DMs this week about the latest announcement from NECA: a Britney Spears doll, claiming it was one of our articles.
First, it was announced that a Britney Spears themed lootcrate will be released…
Each crates and dolls will have a theme, as follows:
ToyFarce would like to make an official statement about it:
We had nothing to do with this.
We are as puzzled as you. NECA, the brand mostly known for awesome horror themed action figure and collectibles did this one on their own. They are doing Britney Spears figures for real.
…
HOWEVER… ToyFarce managed to get a leaked photo of the Bonus Crate, the one that you get if you order all 4 crates, and here it is:
