BREAKING NEWS:
ALL THE BRANDS NOW WANT FORTNITE TOO, BECAUSE WHY THE HELL NOT?
In case you have been living in a cave for the last few years, Fortnite is an online free-to-play multiplayer battle royale video game by Epic Games that took the gaming world by storm. Whether youāve played it or not, you have to have at least heard of it. The characters are wacky, and very toyetic, so much so that in 2019, 2 brands were already producing toys for the franchise.
In the beginning of 2019, Jazwares started releasing multiple action figure lines: 4ā figures, āLegendaryā 6ā figures, accessory sets, blind bags, plushes, you name it. Youāve probably seen those in your toy section.
Later in 2019, McFarlane Toys also announced that they were going to make figures for Fortnite, and out came a few waves of nice articulated action figures.
As the game grew bigger and bigger, with tons of character skins now coming from pop-culture (such as Marvel, DC, movies,ā¦), it didnāt take long before another brand would announced the acquisition of the Fortnite franchise. A few weeks ago, Hasbro announced that they would start to produce Fortnite action figures as well, so we are now having 3 amazing brands producing toys from the same thing. What is interesting with Hasbro is that they are also partners with other franchises, such as Marvel or Star Wars, which also had skins in the games, which means that maybe someday, we could see Fortnite figures of those characters too.
ToyFarce did some digging and professional journalismā¦things, and it turns out that there might be more coming in the future! Brands like Mattel, Playmates, NECA, Bandai, and even Playmobil are looking into acquiring the coveted franchise. Since it seems they donāt do exclusive deals with other brands, we could now get the same character from 8 different brands!
Since they canāt all reveal what type of figures weāll get, ToyFarce is here with some speculation!
-Mattel will produce Fortnite Basics, and Fortnite Elite figures, similar to their WWE lines. The basics will be crappy, and the Elite will be barely recognizable and only slightly better, as is tradition.
-Playmates will release a cardboard box looking like a bus, which will have 6 figures in it, like they did with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sets.
-NECA will make beautiful figures with great sculpts that will require a hot bath before you can do anything with them.
-Bandai will produce Fortnite figures as part of their SH Figuarts line, so we will get the same figures we already have, but for $90, with more articulations, and they will be released 10-12 months after announcement. At least, the articulations will make them able to do all your favorite dance moves for the game!
-Playmobil would actually be the more interesting, considering the construction aspect that can also be found in the game. If Playmobil ends up making Fortnite figures for real, you heard it here first, folks!
