RIP DC DIRECT - 1998-2020

On August 10, 2020, it was announced that DC Direct, the DC Comics in-house toy company, was shut down as part of a massive restructuring from Warner Bros. DC Direct had been producing toys for 22 years, was rebranded DC Collectibles in 2012 before switching back to DC Direct earlier this year. 

Usually, ToyFarce News would make jokes about that, such as "Company that announced mostly repaints for the rest of the year surprisingly shut down", or "Toy manufacturer specialized in Batman and Harley Quinn to stop producing collectibles", but to be honest, we're pretty sad about it.

We know many of you have been collectors of DC Direct products, going back to the first MAD action figures, to the Green Lantern line, the Batman Hush line , the 12inch figures, the Batman Black & White statues, the Animated Series line, etc... and that many of you must be pretty upset about DC Direct shutting down, so we thought we would have some sort of a funeral, a place where we can mourn.

Toy News International posted an article letting us know which product were far enough into production so that they will be released. Sorry, folks... We really tried to find an angle where we could say something funny, but we're pretty sure it wouldn't have been welcome right now, as it is 'too soon'. ToyFarce News wishes all the best in all of their future endeavors to all the talented artists and sculptors that were working there, and hope they find a great place to share their talents very soon.

MR. POTATO HEAD DENIES PLASTIC SURGERY ?!

ToyFarce News does not usually like to give attention to reports about celebrities and their private lives, but the latest developments on this subject have led us to break our silence. 

Known for his role in the Toy Story movie franchise, and also our childhood, Mr. Potato Head has always been an important figure in the toy world. Everybody knows Mr. Potato Head. But it seems that some remember him with a very different...potato head! If you look at this comparison picture, one could clearly say that his appearance has indeed changed over the last 60 years...

Over the weekend, Hasbro representatives of Mr. Potato Head have been refuting the accusations that their client has had extensive plastic surgery over the past few decades. Even Mr. Potato Head's closest friends and fans have expressed doubt about that statement: "Even just in Toy Story, you can clearly see that his face and the texture of his skin have changed from one movie to the other. That man is addicted to plastic surgery, or there isn't a snake in my boot!" said one of his co-stars who wished to remain anonymous.

Hot Toys has decided to give everybody, and especially all the ladies, a perfect gift for this day by announcing a one sixth scale figure that has been the most anticipated character for so many fans: the fan-favorite Rose Tico from Rian Johnson's 'Star Wars - The Last Jedi'!

Rose comes with 3 different outfits, her normal orange outfit which she wears in the Last Jedi, her First order disguise which she used in the movie after being caught on Canto Bight (a place that fans have quickly become enamored with as well!), and her outfit from that one scene in 'The Rise of Skywalker', when we see her in the background, or something. An anonymous source told ToyFarce News that "Well, it's not Gamora, but people should be really happy with that announcement. They will see that Hot Toys listens to them and gives them exactly what they want, when it's not Iron Man variants, re-releases and improbable release dates.". The figure is scheduled to be released on Q4 2028.
