This week, we're having a look at a couple of new Marvel Legends figures, the Astonishing X-Men Wolverine and the Superior Spider-man figures for the 85th anniversary of Marvel, by Hasbro. After seeing the reveals from Hasbro Pulse last week, I looked at my pile and realized I did have some Marvel Legends figures in there too, so riding the high of the Secret Wars figures reveal, I opened a Wolverine and a Spider-man figure, which would soon become my 2 favorite ones... HOT TOYS JOKER (2019) ALREADY RELEASED...IN 2008?!

Hot Toys hasn't released an Arthur Fleck Joker figure... because they already made one, back in 2008!

HOT TOYS JOKER (2019) ALREADY RELEASED...IN 2008?!

Our team of reporters worked around the clock to bring you the insider news about why Hot Toys hasn't released an Arthur Fleck Joker figure (as portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix)... because they already made one, back in 2008!
The MMS68 Dark Knight Joker head sculpt, clearly not based on Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Clown Prince of Crime, was actually supposed to look like Joaquin Phoenix instead. That is why it was hard to recognize at the time!
Also, the jacket had red on the inside, which was in fact, the outside color turned outside-in, according to a former employee (a disgruntled one).
Nowadays, it is tradition to have to wait 2 to 3 years for a figure after it is announced, but in that case, the figure was released 11 years BEFORE the movie came out! This is this kind of forward thinking that made Hot Toys the brand that it is today.
Also, higher ups at Hot Toys have said that since everyone and their mother made a Heath Ledger sculpt in the last 11 years, good or bad, rooted or not, etc... they want to avoid to repeat this, so that people won't have to see endless pics of Arthur Fleck headsculpts until 2030.
