BOSS FIGHT STUDIO LEGENDS OF LUCHA LIBRE PENTA ZERO M AND REY FENIX!
It’s Wednesday, you know what that means… CEROOO MIEEEEDOOOO!
Today, we’re taking a look at the Penta Zero M and Rey Fenix figures from the Legends of Lucha Libre line by Boss Fight Studio! Those had been announced some time before the AEW ones from Jazwares were, and I had pre-ordered them right away, but because 2020 happened and all that, they ended up delayed and came out after the AEW Unrivaled series 2 were released (I got them in January and they were sitting on the ol’ pile ever since, waiting for their moment).
The figures themselves are very good! I reviewed the Sam & Max figures from Boss Fight Studio earlier this year, and thought they did an awesome job on those, and those Legends of Lucha Libre do not disappoint either. Tons of articulations, which is perfect for acrobatic luchadores like the Lucha Bros. My only nitpick is that they are slightly smaller than I expected (being used to the AEW Unrivaled ones), but what they lack in size, they make up in articulations, and extra heads and hands.
The details on their gear, masks and tattoos are pretty insane.
Here are the inevitable comparison pics with the AEW Unrivaled series 2 figures from Jazwares. As mentioned earlier, they are a bit tinier.
Boss Fight Studio killed it with those 2 figures, and I’m glad there’s more to come. They have already announced a ‘sub-line', the Legends of Lucha Libre: Fanaticos (I see those as equivalent of the WWE Basics line), with Juventud Guerrera, Taya Valkyrie (NXT’s Frankie Monet) and different versions of Penta and Fenix wearing t-shirts (yup). They also have a huge Extreme Set Diorama, which comes with a ring and arena diorama that looks pretty sweet!

REVIEW: BOSS FIGHT STUDIO’S SAM & MAX!
This week we’re taking a look at the long awaited Sam & Max figures from Boss Fight Studio!
TOYFARCE REVIEWS:
BOSS FIGHT STUDIO’S SAM & MAX!
It’s Wednesday. You know what that means… ToyFarce review!
This week we’re taking a look at the long awaited Sam & Max figures from Boss Fight Studio. I discovered Sam & Max through the PC video game ‘Sam & Max Hit The Road’, from LucasArts, when I was young thanks to a friend (merci, Vincent!). The point-and-click adventure game told the story of Sam, a dog, and Max, a… rabbity-thing, who solve crimes, while having the most funny and non-sensical conversations. Sam & Max were created by Steve Purcell, and were first a comic book (1987) before being in a video game, so I had to catch up on that too. There was also an animated series of 24 episodes in the late 90’s. Later on, I played all the TellTale episodic video games, which still kept the spirit of the old game on newer consoles.
Needless to say, when those figures were first shown at the ToyFare in 2019, my wallet was ready. The orders opened in June 2019, and a year and a half later, they are finally here!
Those figures are surprisingly well articulated (14 points of articulation for Sam, 11 points for Max) and allow for great poses. Sam’s jacket and tie are made of a softer plastic which can move with the figure. Changing heads and hands is a bit difficult, but using the ol’ “hot water/hair dryer” trick helps. Max is such a tiny figure, with tiny arms and articulations that it’s a bit scary when you pull his hands or head to change them, but it still held up. They’re pretty solid figures.
Great figures from Boss Fight Studio. It said “wave 1” on their website, so I hope to see more of those someday (I will not hold my breath, though…). I should be getting the Legends of Lucha Pentagon and Fenix from Boss Fight Studio, as soon as they are not delayed anymore, so I can’t wait to see those, considering the quality of those Sam & Max figures. After receiving the figures, and googling a little, it turns out there is a new game coming out very soon, a VR-game called “Sam & Max: This time, it’s Virtual”. I am really happy to know that they’re still around!

TOYFARCE’S TOP 10 FUNNIEST AND WEIRDEST TOYS OF 2020!
Since everybody seems to be doing a Top 10 of the best figures of 2020, we figured ToyFarce should do one for the all the funny/weird/silly figures of this year, so here goes!
YEAR END NEWS:
TOYFARCE’S TOP 10 FUNNIEST AND WEIRDEST TOYS OF 2020!
We did it, guys! This is the last week of 2020! We have managed to survive 2020!
Since everybody seems to be doing a Top 10 of the best figures of 2020, we figured ToyFarce should do one for the all the funny/weird/silly figures of this year, so here goes! (We focused on US brands, and stayed away from Japanese toys for that list, otherwise, it would have probably been 10 Japanese products ^^)
10. BOSS FIGHT STUDIO’S SAM & MAX
Sam & Max, Freelance Police!
Sam & Max are characters from a comic book, a video game franchise, and an animated series, that parodies the crime-detective genre and American pop-culture. Finally getting action figures of the duo is amazing, thank you Boss Fight Studio, and we can’t wait to get our hands on those (unfortunately, like most items in this list, they were still in transit at time of writing, so we’ll have to wait to post our own pics and review).
9. JAZWARE’S “A LITTLE BIT OF THE BUBBLY” CHRIS JERICHO
Ooooh… A little bit of the Bubbly!
After winning the AEW World Championship belt at Double or Nothing 2019, Chris Jericho went backstage while still followed by AEW’s cameras. At some point, he saw a bottle of champagne on a table and said “Oh…a little bit of the BUBBLY!”, and the rest is history. This became a meme, which eventually became an action figure set. A meme turned into a toy. What a time to be alive!
8. MCFARLANE TOYS’ DOOM SLAYER : DOOMICORN
Rip and tear, until it is done!
Imagine you’re a demon, and you’re just going about with your day, doing demonic things, and a guy dressed like THIS shows up and slaughters all your friends, before coming for you… Now, that’s a new level of humiliation!
7. DIAMOND SELECT’S STAR TREK TNG: PICARD (FACEPALM - SDCC 2020)
*Facepalming intensifies*
Another meme turned into toy, with Jean Luc Picard’s facepalm limited edition bust. This speaks for itself. This year deserved a massive facepalm, and Picard delivered. There’s also a Riker version of it!!
6. HASBRO’S MARVEL LEGENDS DEAPOOL “PREMIUM INTERACTIVE HEAD”
The merc with a mouth…without a body!
This made the list only because of the commercial, which was completely insane. It’s Deadpool. It talks. Need I say more?
5. SUPER7’S DELUXE REN AND STIMPY
Happy happy joy joy!
From the classic wacky animated series come those 2 deluxe action figures from Super7. Alternative heads and hands, weird accessories, they have it all!
4. BANDAI’S CUP NOODLE 1/1 SCALE MODEL KIT
Hungry? Cup Noodle! Nissan!
In the history of weird model kits, we’re pretty sure nothing can top that one. The 1/1 scale Cup Noodle model kit was really fun to build, and looks amazing displayed in a kitchen, next to the real thing. Careful not to add boiling water to that one, though…
3. HASBRO’S STAR WARS BLACK SERIES HOLIDAY EDITION
A long time ago, in a Christmas holiday far, far away…
A lot of controversy came with those one, but who cares about negative opinions, those are super fun. I mean, come on… Winter porgs? Green stormtroopers? A ‘Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer’ D-0? We totally wanted those to be part of our Christmas decorations this year…
2. NECA’S TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES MUSICAL MUTAGEN TOUR (SDCC 2020)
Cowabunga, dudes!
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle line has been a very successful line for NECA, so it was not surprising that they would release some sort of set to be SDCC exclusive, but oh boy, no one saw that one coming. The turtles with their ‘Coming out of their shells tour’, complete with denim outfits, instuments, and stage. This is ‘silliness’ at its best! They’re wearing shoes!!
1. HASBRO’S G.I.JOE CLASSIFIED SERIES - FINANCIAL DIRECTOR DESTRO
Pimpin’ ain’t easy!
What else? What else could have been number 1 on a list of the funniest/weirdest/silliest toys of 2020 than the Pimp Destro himself? That figure is so absurd and loud, it’s perfect. He comes with a suitcase full of cash, sunglasses, burning dollar bills, has leopard pattern on his costume and a leopard skin as a cape. Hasbro, we want more of that !
HONORABLE MENTION: 100% SOFT TOYS’ DUMPSTER FIRE
There is no better toy to represent this year than this one. There are now several variants of it, with facemask, with lights, … and we hope to see more of it in 2021.
Here it is, folks! The ToyFarce Top 10 Funniest and Weirdest toys of 2020! Did we miss any? Would you have placed them differently? Let us know in the comments!
