REVIEW: FIGMA SILENT HILL 2 RED PYRAMID THING AND BUBBLE HEAD NURSE (RE-ISSUE)

TOYFARCE REVIEWS:

FIGMA SILENT HILL 2 RED PYRAMID THING AND BUBBLE HEAD NURSE (RE-ISSUE)

It’s Wednesday, you know what that means… ToyFarce reviews!

This week, we’re taking a look at the re-releases of the Silent Hill 2 figures from Figma, namely, the Red Pyramid Thing (or Pyramid Head, for his friends), and the Bubble Head Nurse, which were originally released in 2015. The game celebrated its 20th anniversary last month (Damn, I am old), and is one of my favorite games of the genre. I played that game through and through, got all of the endings (the ‘Dog’ one being the best one), and have been listening to the soundtrack for apparently 2 decades. Talking about the soundtrack, here’s a song for while you’re browsing the pictures!

Figma packaging. Simple, efficient.

First off, Red Pyramid Thing (or Pyramid Head, for his friends), comes with his Great Knife, a spear, an extra neck piece for the spear, extra hands and the usual articulated stand and bag for the accessories. The bag for accessories is a genius part for Figma figures, and more companies should do that.

What’s in the box

Red Pyramid Thing

*Stares menacingly*

That figure oozes creepiness. A perfect representation of that creature that scared the crap out of us in the game.

Closer look at the pyramid…

*Great knife sliding on the floor sounds*

Eww, it seems it’s leaking…

“ARE YOU LOOKING AT WHAT’S INSIDE MY PYRAMID?”

The apron is made of softer plastic, allowing the legs to move out of it, for better range of motion

(For those who want to know, it kinda looks like mussels…)

Remember at the end of the game (spoilers on a 20 year old game!), when there’s 4 of them with spears…

… and they just grab them…

… and FREAKING KILL THEMSELVES?

Good times… Not traumatizing at all.

The Bubble Head Nurse, which were just as scary as Pyramid Head in the game, are also greatly represented by Figma. Figma is used to make anime female characters, so that figure has a great sculpt and articulation. It’s a horribly disfigured zombie-like nurse, which, of course, has a cleavage, because Japan. 3 different heads, extra hands, a knife and steel pipe, along with the articulated stand and plastic bag for the accessories.

Bubble Head Nurse

*Twitching sounds*

Head 1, aka ‘Teeth’

Head 2, aka ‘Porcelain doll head’

Head 3, aka ‘Uncircumcized’

Right away, it’s less threatening when her head looks like a giant limp phallus…

But I would still run away!

The nurses in the game were usually not moving until you got too close to them, just twitching…

Creepy!

Aaaah, that classic scene that traumatized us 20 years ago…

Always nice to go back to it…

*Static sounds intensifies…*

Before finishing this review, I actually had a bootleg version of the Red Pyramid Thing, which cost me about $13 a few years ago, and is HORRIBLE. Flimsy plastic, the parts fall off, it barely stands up on its own, as bootlegs usually do. If you breathe too close to it, it will fall apart. I can now get rid of it!

Hello, $13 crappy bootleg…

TAKE THAT!

(The figure actually fell apart while taking the picture, which was perfect)

More news at 11:00… the Dog ending!
